
Theodoros Zachariadis

Theodoros Zachariadis is an Associate Professor at the Cyprus University of Technology, teaching environmental economics and energy resource management. He has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He has worked as a researcher at the National Technical University of Athens and as a European Marie Curie Fellow at the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency and an associate editor of the international Journal ‘Energy Economics’. In the recent past he has served as a national representative of Cyprus for the theme ‘Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials’ in the European Union’s ‘Horizon 2020’ programme, at the Standing Committee for Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences of the European Science Foundation and at the Domain Committee on Transport and Urban Development of the European COST programme. He is the recipient of the 2009 Research Prize of the Republic of Cyprus. His research interests are on energy and environmental economics and policy, especially on the assessment of decarbonisation policies in the European transport sector and on long-term energy and environmental modelling.
